19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
